Boralex recognized by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française au Canada for its achievements in France
Blendecques, France, April 18, 2019 – The Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française au Canada last Thursday presented the award for Canadian achievement in France, in the “Large Corporation” category, to Boralex Inc. (“Boralex” or the “Corporation”) (TSX: BLX) at a gala event in Montréal, Québec attended by more than 200 people.
Patrick Lemaire, President and CEO of Boralex, saluted all employees, and particularly the team in France. “They’re passionate and dedicated, and without them Boralex would not be here today. I want to express my very sincere thanks to them.” He also recognized Patrick Decostre, Vice-President and General Manager, Boralex Europe, the Corporation’s first employee in France who will become Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer on April 29, 2019.
“We’re delighted. This award is a tribute to the progress Boralex has made since we entered the French market and to the work our teams do every day. It’s recognition that fully belongs to them,” said Patrick Decostre.
Since first arriving in France in 1998, Boralex has enjoyed growing success. Through its expertise in renewables and commitment to energy transition, in less than 20 years Boralex has established itself as France’s leading producer of onshore wind energy. With more than €1.3 billion already invested in developments in the country’s rural areas, Boralex currently operates 941 MW in wind, solar and thermal power in France and has 181 employees across 11 branches located in proximity to its operating assets. In all, Boralex has increased its workforce in France by over 45% compared with 2016 and plans to continue hiring in 2019.
This first award ceremony organized by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française au Canada was also attended by Kareen Rispal, France’s Ambassador to Canada and Isabelle Hudon LL.D, Canada’s Ambassador to France.
“Congratulations to Boralex for this well-deserved award,” noted Ms. Rispal. “This Canadian corporation has seized the opportunities available in France, an open and innovative country with exceptional infrastructure and a highly qualified workforce. I hope many other companies will follow this fine example. France welcomes you!”
“Through Boralex, Canadian know-how and innovation in renewable energy is being honored,” says Isabelle Hudon, Ambassador of Canada to France. I was proud to be able to congratulate the Boralex team at the recent gala of the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française au Canada. I wish as much success to all Canadian companies who want to do business in France, the gateway to the European market. ”
Four other companies were honoured in the “Large Corporation” category, namely Alithya (strategy and digital technology), CGI (ICT), Moment Factory (multimedia studio) and Ivanhoé Cambridge (real estate).
Boralex develops, builds and operates renewable energy power facilities in Canada, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. A leader in the Canadian market and France’s largest independent producer of onshore wind power, the Corporation is recognized for its solid experience in optimizing its asset base in four power generation types—wind, hydroelectric, thermal and solar. Boralex ensures sustainable growth by leveraging the expertise and diversification developed over the past 25 years.
