June 20, 2019
Montreal’s Museum of Fine Art and McCord Museum will mark Friday’s National Indigenous Day by offering free admission to their exhibits on Indigenous culture.
The McCord Museum currently has three exhibits concerning Indigenous culture:
- Sding K’awXangs — Haida: Supernatural Stories, it considers the cultural impact of the people of Haida Gwaii, an archipelago off the coast of British Columbia
- there’s a reason for our connection, a work of Hannah Claus, who was the museum’s artist-in-residence
- Wearing our Identity — The First Peoples Collection, it considers the meaning of clothes worn and fashioned by First Peoples (from the permanent collection)
Additionally, the museum will hold a free screening of “Ishkueu Territory Woman’s Territory.”
