WENDAKE, QC, Nov. 17, 2018  – The Assembly of First Nations of QuebecLabrador (AFNQL) honors the memory of one of our own, Chief Harry St. Denis of Wolf Lake, Algonquin Nation, who passed away suddenly last Thursday.

“It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our brother, our ally, a warrior, Harry St Denis. He was one of the pillars of our circle, a man who never backed away from the battle. He has marked our collective history with his deep convictions, his determination, his straight talk and his relentless commitment to defend our rights and interests throughout his political career. On behalf of the AFNQL and on my own behalf, I wish to convey to his family, the community of Wolf Lake and the Algonquin Nation our heartfelt condolences,” said the Chief of the AFNQL, Ghislain Picard. “Our Assembly will miss his contribution. He stood by and upheld strong principles for all of us”.

He was chief of the Algonquin community of Wolf Lake since 1986. He has always been an active participant at the AFNQL table and at the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) table. Chief St. Denis was also the portfolio holder for the AFNQL, at the national level, for Land Claims and Human Resources.
