Condolences to the entire Community
(Kahnawake – 30, Enniskó:wa/March 2023) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke’s Council of Chiefs wish to offer the entire community a message of condolences and solidarity as we once again find ourselves in the midst of an incredibly difficult time.
In the past few weeks we have suffered the loss of so many community members that we have almost become numbed with grief. The passages of our family members, friends, colleagues and even distant acquaintances has had a profound effect on us as a collective. As an organization, the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke has not been spared during this time.
While we have in place many traditions and practices that help us deal with loss, in this case our coping mechanisms are being tested to the limits. We must support each other to the best of our abilities. A kind word to those who have suffered losses will always be appreciated. Now, more than ever, we need to acknowledge the gifts we are blessed with.
Once again, to all of those who have had persons close to them enter the Spirit World, we offer our sincerest condolences and kind wishes.
