From police communications man to Coalition Avenir Québec MNA, Ian Lafrenière has seen his share of hot button issues. Now the premier has asked him to solve some longstanding issues with Quebec’s Indigenous communities.

QUEBEC — If Ian Lafrenière had his way and there was no COVID-19 pandemic, he would hop into a pickup and drive through the province to meet as many Indigenous community members as he can.

“That’s me, that’s my style,” Lafrenière said. “That’s the kind of relationship I love to establish, meeting people, eye to eye, to know if your message is getting through and if they trust you or not.

“This is exactly how I started as a police officer.”
