Montreal Canadiens change Indigenous land acknowledgement – Montreal Gazette

The team said on Monday the new version was written “with the help of community leaders and experts.”

After being questioned last week, the Montreal Canadiens franchise has adjusted the Indigenous land acknowledgement it will read before home games this season.

As the new season began, the hockey club announced it would read a statement before each home game to acknowledge the hospitality of the Mohawk Nation “on this traditional and unceded territory where we are gathered today.’’
