New Videos: Culture, Tourism and Economic Growth

Kim Jose, Communications and Engagement (Montreal)

Tourism is a critical driver of economic growth and development, and the need for expertise in the tourism and hospitality sector continues to increase steadily in the regions where we work. We’ve partnered with associations and institutions in this sector to ensure hospitality and tourism operations, services and resources are working effectively.

We’re delighted to officially launch two new videos celebrating the positive impacts of tourism on the livelihood of indigenous communities in Canada and in Peru.

Strengthening Cultural Tourism in Kahnawà:ke

In the Kahnawà:ke First Nations community, a CESO Volunteer Advisor supported the overhaul of the St. Kateri Interpretive Centre, enhancing the space to offer a unique cultural experience to its visitors. The restoration of the Centre is key to diversifying economic opportunities in the region.

Supporting Ecotourism in Peru

In Peru we partnered with the Rural Tourism Association of Peru (ATRP) to support local operators in their efforts to increase awareness about the diverse tourist experiences available in the region. Ecotourism is an important means of livelihood for indigenous communities in rural Peru, and in this video we showcase the benefits of ecotourism and the inspiring determination and active participation of indigenous communities in the area.

We’re so thrilled to work with associations and communities that further support our vision to create stronger economies and better lives.
