Notice to the media — Presentation of the procedure of the hearings of the Commission indépendante sur les caribous forestiers et montagnards and presentation of scenarios

QUÉBEC, March 15, 2022  – The Commission indépendante sur les caribous forestiers et montagnards invites the representatives of the media to a press conference during which it will present the procedure of its hearings.

The press conference will be preceded by a technical briefing on the two theoretical and hypothetical scenarios developed by the ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP) and on which the Commission will consult the public.

About the Commission
The mandate of the Commission indépendante sur les caribous forestiers et montagnards is to meet with citizens, Indigenous communities and stakeholders in the regions concerned to hear their thoughts about two scenarios designed to foster self-sufficiency of caribou populations in the areas in question.  At the end of the hearings, which will begin in April, a final report will be produced by the Commission and delivered to the government.
