On June 21, Let’s Celebrate the Richness and Resilience of the First Peoples
Wendake, June 19, 2025 – On National Indigenous Peoples Day, the Native Friendship Centres of Quebec invite Quebecers to mark this day of recognition, celebration and solidarity with the First Peoples.
This national day is an opportunity to showcase the cultural diversity, knowledge, languages and contributions of First Nations and Inuit, while serving as a reminder of the current realities experienced by Indigenous people living in urban areas.
“June 21 is a high point that creates space to recognize the presence and vitality of Indigenous Peoples living in our cities,” said Tanya Sirois, executive director of the Regroupement des centres d’amitié autochtones du Québec (RCAAQ). “Friendship Centres are places of meeting, dialogue and social transformation. Today, we’re underlining the importance of building a future together based on respect and reciprocity.”
For the occasion, Native Friendship Centres across Quebec are organizing cultural, fun and unifying activities where everyone is welcome. These events are an opportunity to forge ties, gain a better understanding of Indigenous realities and take part in a tangible reconciliation movement.
