Ratsénhaienhs McComber to participate in 2023 Seed Conference

(Kahnawake – 21, Enniskó:wa/March 2023) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Ratsénhaienhs Stephen McComber will be participating in this weekend’s ‘Food Sovereignty 2023 Seed Conference’ being organized by Kahnawà:ke Collective Impact (KCI).

Ratsénhaienhs McComber, who holds the newly approved Sustainable Development Portfolio (with a strong focus on Food Sovereignty) and is known internationally as an expert seed-keeper specializing in heritage varieties, will be one of the presenters at the event.

“There is obviously a need for these types of events in our community, and I’m proud to see a very strong food sovereignty movement amongst our people,” he said. “I’d like to thank the team at KCI for putting this together, the sponsors and seed vendors that will be participating, and the Council for supporting food sovereignty and the efforts of the community by creating this portfolio.”

As the registration for the event is full, KCI will be recording the conference and will make it available to the community on their social media pages.
