In 2023-2024, the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission (FNQLEDC) worked on 205 Indigenous entrepreneur files, 116 of which involved women. In addition, 745 interventions were carried out in women’s entrepreneurship. These figures demonstrate the strength and dynamism of Indigenous women entrepreneurs, but also the need for tailored support.
Among the various forms of possible support, mentoring is proving to be one of the valuable resources that can meet needs. For Indigenous women entrepreneurs, mentoring is much more than just support; it becomes a driver of personal and professional transformation, a way to anchor themselves in their roots by surrounding themselves with people who understand their entrepreneurial and cultural realities.
Female mentoring also plays a key role in strengthening leadership, creating opportunities and combating invisible barriers.
At the FNQLEDC, we firmly believe that mentoring is a promising way to support Indigenous women entrepreneurs on their path to success and to break the glass ceilings that still too often hinder their momentum.
