Nitsénhaienhs travel to EPP Conference in Ottawa
(Kahnawake – 29, Tsothohrhkó:wa/January 2025) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Nitsénhaienhs David Diabo and Melanie Morrison are in Ottawa today to attend the Ready 2025 Emergency Preparedness Planning (EPP) conference, hosted by the Canadian Red Cross.
The Nitsénhaienhs will attend the first day of the two-day conference, which will feature Harjit Sajjan, Minister for Emergency Preparedness. In addition to panel discussions on emergency response and preparedness, the day will conclude with a session titled “Advancing Indigenous Climate Leadership: Enhancing Preparedness, Collaboration, and Resilience in the Face of Emergencies.”
Both will return to the community in the evening.
